Little bud vases

Spring has arrived here in the mountains and I'm having fun making all sorts of new vases, big and small, carved and with little handles. Each time I create a new one I'm thinking of what flowers might look best in each one. I really come alive with the spring and the fresh air after being cooped up indoors all winter. I'm daily watching my garden beds to see what has poked up more than the day before!

Where did March go? The time flies for me in and around the studio. There is always something to do! I'll finish up these vases, head to the clay conference and when I return I'll be helping Will fire up the wood kiln with some large pots he's been working on. (I get to squeeze some of my small pots in, too!)

I love those vase designs? Are those stoneware?

Thanks! It's a porcelain-like stoneware.

Joy, these are so amazing! I have been so inspired by the pots you have been making lately. I have always enjoyed what you do, but the last several months you have just blown me away. I hope you are really happy about the new directions you are taking your work. It seems like you are having a ton of fun in the studio these days. Thanks for sharing all this good stuff with us!

Wow, I love lots of your work but these vases may become my new favorites... can't wait to see them done (especially the third from the left)!
