Tumblers, Shadows and Muffins

I finished up these porcelain tumblers and thought the shadow patterns on them had some interesting forms, maybe after the wood firing they will have wild wood flame action on them. Today I was working along slowly in the studio doing some finishing and slipping of these tumblers and some other cups like these. Now I'm headed off to Clay Club for a chili cookoff and bonfire, and with me I'm bringing along warm out of the oven jalapeno cornbread muffins, yum!

I love your tumblers & the photo is great with those shadows. I'm not a great tumbler maker -- yet! I remember loving Will's tumbler's too (at Spruce PIne). I need to throw a bunch & just commit to a form.
And I really want one of those warm muffins.

Judy, I've been working on this same tumbler form for a while now and have watched it grow. I have some of the older ones, from a couple of years back and compare them to the ones today and it's amazing to see the progression just in the same form. I think it is a good way to work to pick a form and just work it to death...your hands will memorize the form.

and the muffins? try a basic cornbread recipe, but add chopped onions, green peppers (or chiles/or jalapenos), and shredded jalapeno jack cheese, you'll love it, easy, too!

So you were the one who made those delicious muffins! yummy. Good to see you. I'm sorry I was a bit distracted by my "cling-on's". We had a fun outing though. Stop in sometime if you're in the neighborhood.

Thanks Joy - I am going to start working through my tumbler 'issues' this winter - lol.

I need to bring a snack for a reception & might make these muffins & cook them in a mini-muffin baker. Sounds yummy!

Did you throw each tumbler on the wheel or do you make molds? They are all so consistent in their form, bravo!

Mallory- I throw each one on the wheel, time after time has helped to give me consistency, and even so, there are some times that I don't always get them "quite right".
