Testing, Testing

I'm going to do some glaze tests soon so I threw these test tile rings out of stoneware and porcelain. When I make a lot of test tiles, I like to punch a hole in them so later I can string up the good test tiles and then hang them up so they don't take up a lot of space in the studio. I'm going to do some yellow honey colored glaze tests and some white liner glaze tests as well. I've been wanting some different liner glazes for the interior of my pots, particularly the bowls. It's been hard for me to get around to doing a lot of glaze testing this year, but I hope I can get some results out that I like. I've got a few porcelain pots to make in the next couple of weeks to put in Will's next wood firing, so it feels good to get back in the studio! Although lately, as you have noticed, the fall has been enticing me outdoors to do some more hiking and photography. I found two new waterfalls south of Burnsville, near the Blue Ridge Parkway the other day. After the snow and cold weather passed through the other day, we have had such amazing beautiful weather and all I want to do is soak in all the remaining warmth and sun before hibernating time!

I love Crabtree Falls, isn't that a great hike? We were up there camping in April for Wesley's birthday and froze! We ended up at Linville Falls campground, the only one on the parkway open before May. Enjoying your photos!
