A New Day

Today has been such an amazing and historic day for our country. It felt good to be throwing pots while contemplating the election results. I've been working on some basket forms that I add a tall reed handle to after the firing. I also decided to try some new cup forms, that will be either teabowls or maybe teacups that I put handles on. All of the cups I currently make I throw without trimming, but I thought I would try some new forms where I trim a foot on them. I've been working on the same general form for all of my cups for a few years now, which has been good for me to develop the form. But it's certainly time to try something different.

These dimpled bowls I decided to make out of porcelain this time, instead of stoneware. They will be ready to trim tomorrow. Although I'm going to do some glaze tests on some test tiles, I'll be eager to try some of the test glazes in these porcelain bowls. I might just wait until after I see the results on the test tiles first, though, just to be safe and not risk ruining the bowls. But maybe I could try at least one...it's just too tempting to wait.
