Frozen Fingers and Glazes

I spent most of my day mixing up some small batches of test glazes as well as some other liner glazes for glazing my pots this week. I have all of my raw glaze materials out in a barn, so it was freezing to mix these! I'm going to try some of these on light stoneware and porcelain test tiles that I need to label next to get them all organized.

All of my pots survived the bisque firing, so I need to just pour liner glazes in them and then they will be ready for the wood firing. They have flashing slips for the wood kiln on the outside of them, so I won't be putting any glaze on the exteriors of these pots.

These baskets will look somewhat like this when finished:

It's going to be another cold night tonight in the 20s...we've had an unusual arctic blast this week with snow and serious February like temperatures! Brrr...I sure hope it's going to be warmer by the weekend for the firing!

Did you take a (reed) handle making class? And if so - from who. Your handles are always stunning!

It really is too cold for November. I hope this isn't a sign for how cold this winter will be. BRRRRR is right.

I agree it's entirely too cold for November. I hope this isn't a sign of how cold this winter will be. BRRRR is right.

Judy,
I didn't take a class, but back when I was a resident at Odyssey I watched Linda demo one on a teapot, and then I took it from there and just kept trying it on different pots, experimenting with different sizes of reeds and seagrass.
brrrr....I'm glad I'm in where's warm and toasty now!
