Freeze and Fire

I finished glazing all my pots and these test tiles with all the test glazes, and am about to, yes, once again, load up the car with all of the pots. I feel like I'm always moving things around in and out of kilns, in and around the studio, in an out of the car. I guess such is the life. Tomorrow I'm loading up the wood kiln with Will... hopefully it won't be TOO freezing out there wadding pots. Looks like it might be for the early part of the firing, but once the fire gets rolling it'll be nice to stand near the kiln. Hopefully it'll be a good one!

Hi... I wanted to say hello and thanks for the blog. I'm relatively a new potter and a student at Clayworks in Charlotte and it's been fun to read and learn from your blog. I really like the colors and forms you make and have seen your pieces in several shows. It's been great too, to learn under Ron Philbeck and Greg Scott at Clayworks. Thanks for the great tips! Good luck on the wood kiln firing.

"I hope it's a good one", John Lennon? or countless potters before they submit their pots to the kiln. A potters prayer.

I know exactly how you feel! I can so relate to waht you are saying. Monday I got my stuff out of the bisque at Claymakers, glazed it , brought it home to do some brush work and then will take it to Hillsborough for the wood kiln,Friday I picked up the kid's work from my residency this week, took it to the ArtsCenter to fire in their kiln, got up early this morning and went to unload that kiln, will take all the bisque back to the Montessori school week after next for a sawdust firing, and this was a normal week. Oh yeah, and my car is loaded with props I picked up at the theater and have to return to various places. I feel like all I ever do is move stuff about! whew!
